Pennie Bacon ADC/TXC, co-creator : Pennie has 22 years experience in the Activity Profession. She has worked in LTC, Alzheimer, and Assisted Living Facilities throughout Texas as a Director, Consultant, Departmental Trainer and Troubleshooter. She has owned and operated the ActivityDirector.Com website since 1992, where she has developed activity applications and software for the Internet. She has conducted CEU Workshops and Seminars throughout Texas, focusing mainly on the computer and its role in the Activity Department. Pennie has been married for 29 yrs with 2 daughters 27, 25. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, sewing, computers, going to flea markets, boating and country living.
Chris Loga ADC, LNHA Administrative & Care Plan Consultant : Chris has been involved in senior health care for the past 12 years with 9 in the activities field. A graduate of East Carolina University with a double degree in Communications and Psychology, he has been interested in seniors since taking care of his grand father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in the early 90's. Chris has bee nationally certified with NCCAP and state certified by the GA Alzheimer's Association and the Georgia Health Care Association in the activities profession. Chris is a trained public speaker and educator with the GHCA, teaching classes in several areas of activities. This year, Chris was honored by receiving the 2006 GHCA Activity Director of the year. He has had several articles on Nursing Home Activities published in national magazines and web sites. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife Wendy and his dogs, Bella and Taffy, in Marietta.
Cheryl A. Bacon, Marketing :Sheryl has her Associate Degree and is currently a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University, working on her Bachelorís of Science with an emphasis in Human Sciences and Marketing. She serves as Continuing Education and Marketing Assistant for Activity Directors Network.
Damon M. Jones, Graphics and Media :Damon is a graduate from The Art Institute of Houston and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Multimedia and Web Design. He serves as head of the Graphics and Media Department for Activity Directors Network.
Angela Futch, Consultant : Angela is a Program Service Coordinator for Goldberg B'nai B'rith Towers in Houston Texas. She has been in Activities for five years. She currently works in an Independent Living Retirement Center for low-income elderly. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University. Her specialties include teaching computer classes for the elderly and party planning for special events. Angela creates monthly newsletters for two non-profit organizations, creates digital scrapbooks, and is a tour guide for the Houston area.
Kathleen "Mimi" Taylor, ADC, Consultant :Kathleen has 12 years experience in the Activities Profession. After being a teaching aide in a kindergarten classroom, and spending many years working along side her husband in a local hardware lumber store, Kathleen made the decision to use her talents, and began working at a long term care facility as an Activity Assistant. She also became an LNA and worked in both aspects of health care. Moving to a healthcare center closer to her home, Kathleen also worked both in Activities and as an LNA for several years. A brief change in career led her to be a secretary for hygienists at a dentist' office. However, Kathleen, known affectionately as "Mimi" to the residents, soon realized that her heart belonged back with the residents. Today, she is an NCCAP certified Activities Director and has held the position for 1-1/2 years. She is a member of NAAP, and NHHCA, and the Activity Professionals Council. She has written many articles for local newspapers and has been featured in a newspaper article for her work. Kathleen has been featured on an Activities website, and will have activity ideas published in an upcoming book. She has been married for 33 years, has two married daughters, and is Mimi to four grandchildren. When not working with residents, Kathleen enjoys a steaming cup of coffee, reads anything by John Updike, likes taking walks in the rain, finding great deals on ebay, emailing penpals and family, watercolor painting, spending time with family, and playing with the kids.
Miguel Sarasa ADPC, Consultant : Miguel completed an internship at a local SNF. An experience that truly changed his life. After graduation, Miguel worked towards obtaining his Liberal Studies degree to become an elementary school teacher.
One night while web surfing, he stumbled across the Activity Directors Network and NCCAP.org and got hooked on the Activity Profession. Miguel became California Activity Director state certified in 2004 completing a 72 hour course and went on to complete his MEPAP 1 and at the present moment is working towards completion of his MEPAP 2. Also, he is working away at his AA degree with the goal to complete the Recreational Therapy program from California State Long Beach to become both a Recreational Therapist and a certified Activity Consultant. Miguel served one year on the Southern California Association of Activity Professionals Board of Directors where he had the opportunity to speak on computer networking and NCCAP ADC Track 5 certification in both Southern and Northern California. Miguel has made a personal commitment not only to continuing to enhance the lives of the seniors in which he serves, but also the Activity Profession. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, 2 dogs, working on the computer and enjoying life.
